Why us? A trusted service our team of mediators have the professional accreditation that you would expect from the premier mediation service.
All of our mediators, and our entire organisation, are approved by the most trusted mediation body in the United Kingdom, the Family Mediation Association (FMA), College of Mediators, NFM or Resolution.
This accreditation signifies that we are certified to provide expert mediation services. It means that we follow the FMC code of practice in all of our work, which means that you are assured to receive a consistent and quality mediation service.
We participate in regular training and mentoring sessions to make sure that the mediation you receive is of the best standard in the field.
Our Birmingham mediators are professional experts in their dealings with you as a client. At the beginning of the mediation procedure they will take the time to carry out meetings with each party in the divorce.
This has the specific intent of working out whether mediation is the correct procedure to follow. In most cases it is, but the mediator will also be concerned with the type of mediation that suits you best in terms of times of meetings, other parties involved and the issues that you wish to consider.
The beauty of mediation is that it is a process that does not take sides either way. The mediator is not there to decide which party is right but to help you to arrive at a written agreement that both parties can mutually agree upon.
There are no right answers in mediation, but it is a bespoke service that helps both partners to arrive at a considered, written, statement. Our MIAMS Birmingham mediator is your experienced guide in this process.
At MIAMS Birmingham we are clear about our costs and our service. You will find that you can make appointments at times that suit you, and your professional and family arrangements.
Our pricing is competitive and much more reasonable than legal fees and charges. There are no hidden charges and costs, and you will find that you can make mediation meetings at times that will fit in with your needs in most cases.
This is why MIAMS Family Mediation Birmingham Service is the first choice for your divorce mediation.

General information about Mediation, Please click the links below to find out more info:
Family’s are deeply affected by divorce or separation, especially when there are children in the family. Often these painful situations can be helped with the supportof a mediator who will hold a Mediation Information Assessment Meeting or MIAM. A MIAM can guide communication and set the tone for the goals of mediation.
When attending a court proceeding on the matter, the family will need to present an FM1 (Family Mediation 1 form) which confirms that a MIAM has been held.
As of April 2014, significant changes were made to the judicial system regarding separation and divorces, particularly where children were involved. These changes ensure that the welfare of the children is paramount, with minimal impact on the children and as little negativity as possible. One of the major changes was a requirement for a mediation session or MIAM to be attended before any court proceedings to do with financial or custody matters (hence the need for a FM1 to be produced).
If the split is acrimonious and both parties find it difficult to be in the same room, as would happen with face to face mediation, it is possible to ask for shuttle mediation.
Shuttle sessions happen when the two parties are seated in separate rooms either virtually or physically and the mediator shuttles between the two, discussing issues and offering solutions.
Shuttle mediation is often a good solution with distance between the parties allowing for rational and reasoned thinking.
MIAMS Birmingham Mediators can also help with will disputes: resolving issues between and coming to an acceptable compromise to the conflict that arises as a result of separation.
